IMF Campaign Material 2009
In the continuing fallout from the global financial crisis, millions of workers in precarious employment have lost their jobs. For employers, cutting temporary and agency jobs has proven to be a cheap and easy way of reducing their workforce. But for workers it has resulted in hardship, uncertainty and a complete lack of control over their working lives.

Danish activities in relation with the action day on the 7 October
The danish unions chose to focus on the problem of unserious temporary agencies. They did this through articles (see attached below) in a number of regional newspapers where we warned enterprises in Danish manufacturing industry against employing workers through an unserious agency. Essentially the employers were reminded that in most cases it was their responsibility that the temporary agency workers got what the collective agreement proscribed and that the unions would raise the demand with them directly in cases of under-payment, lacking holiday-pay or other such problems.

Council of Finnish Industrial Unions TP:
On 7 October, the World Day for Decent Work, Council of Finnish Industrial Unions TP proposes that all Finnish-based multinationals, in tandem with respective trade union organisations, embark on a process with the aim of negotiating global framework agreements. Henceforth, Finnish-based multinationals could genuinely profile themselves as socially responsible actors and place themselves in a different moral category from companies that are blacklisted because of their socially irresponsible behaviour.

EMF Campaign on Precarious Employment 6 October 2008
Filmed statement by Peter Scherrer, EMF General Secretary
The European and International Metalworkers Federations are jointly organising a global action against precarious employment in 2008. It is an essential element of both federations.
The objective is clear:
- The massive expansion of precarious work must be stopped
- Where precarious work does exist, wages and conditions must be equal to those of regular workers and full coverage of social security should be guaranteed
- Workers should be directly hired and indirect employment discouraged
- Basic job security has to be guaranteed, as well as full protection in the field of health and safety Therefore urgent trade union action is required.
The global action day is a clear signal to employers and governments all over the world that this is no longer acceptable.
Turkey - Birlesik Metal-Is
On October 7 Birlesik Metal-Is is organizing a demonstration on the subject of precarious work. The demonstration will have two basic titles:

- Precarious work.
After October 7, the union's actions will continue on the collective bargaining process as it is related with its demands it will keep continuing to emphasize an end to precarious work.
