International conference on 7 October in Norway
Fellesforbundet together with the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions and the research institute FAFO are planning an international conference for the world day for Decent Work on 7 October.
The main theme of the conference will be the challenges that trade unions nationally and internationally face with regards to a migrating work force.
The conference is intended to contribute to increased cooperation between trade unions across boarders, build a foundation for action and strengthen international research in this important area. There will be introductions and debates with shop stewards, politicians and researchers from different countries, including the UK, Germany, Denmark and Norway.
Apart from this conference Fellesforbundet continuously works actively with these questions, which will also be central both in the upcoming Norwegian general elections and in next years collective bargaining. We have had much success in cooperation with our government on issues concerning social dumping the last four years, and this will be one of our main campaign issues in our quest to keep the majority Parliament and ruling government in place.
For more secure employment, against precarious work
The EMF Collective Bargaining Policy Conference 2009 launched the 2nd Common Demand:
“For more secure employment, against precarious work”,
which will be included in the collective bargaining demands of all its 75 affiliated trade unions and in future collective bargaining rounds throughout Europe over the next four years.
