The National Association of Hungarian Trade Unions (MSZOSZ) plans actions for WDDW
In Hungary for the World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) the National Association of Hungarian Trade Unions (MSZOSZ) is planning an action against the unfair and unacceptable working conditions of temporary workers
Together with the leadership of the Hungarian Metalworkers’ Federation we intend to organise a ‘flashmob’ action on 7th October in many cities of Hungary. The simple fact is that precarious work is on the rise in Europe (Hungary included) and is a phenomenon that is dangerous to society! Our message to Hungarian society is to protest against the differences in wages, lower social benefits, and bad employment conditions. The flashmob is set to take place nationwide. In our big cities the trade union activists will “freeze” for 1-2 minutes wearing the t-shirts of the various trade unions, while their colleagues will distribute leaflets (IMF leaflets, and a leaflet on the Hungarian situation). Activists from different trade unions are seeking to convey the message that precarious work is everyone’s business. The participating unions genuinely believe that our colleagues in precarious work must be employed under the same conditions as workers in ‘normal’ employment. The nationwide protest on October 7, will take place between 16.30-17.00. The participating unions are: Vasas, MSZOSZ, Chemists (VDSZ), railway, SZISZ. Discussions are also being held with the trade union of construction workers, postmen and trade union of miners.
For more secure employment, against precarious work
The EMF Collective Bargaining Policy Conference 2009 launched the 2nd Common Demand:
“For more secure employment, against precarious work”,
which will be included in the collective bargaining demands of all its 75 affiliated trade unions and in future collective bargaining rounds throughout Europe over the next four years.
